What are you doing with your kids this Easter holidays? Did you take leave to be with them? Or are you going away for the long weekend?

I am going to spend Friday at home sharing the day with my hubby and kids, then its off to work Saturday and Monday but Sunday is free so maybe we will take them out for a picnic somewhere. Unfortunlately in my profession (retail) we are open most public holls.

I always work from home a bit on the weekends and I suppose this will be no exception, but I've taken leave on Tuesday, so Monday and Tuesday the computer must behave itself and stay switched off! Hoping to pile the kids in the car and go somewhere in fresh air.

I am planning for Mini sports day - go to the park with some basic sports equipment such as a soft ball, skipping rope, plastic set of skittles or badminton racquets and shuttlecocks. Take turns to challenge each other to games, and keep score. Organise simple races between the children, for example weaving in and out of trees along a certain length of the park, a hopping race, a three-legged race or an obstacle race. These work best when there are several children, but if there's a wide age gap you can give the younger children a head start.

If you're talking about the whole holidays (i.e. from when school closes until school opens) then thank heavens my daughter's school has holiday school which is well supervised fun for all the kidlets whose folks have to work including hot chocolate when they arrive, juice throughout the day and a simple lunch.

If you're talking about the two days on either side of the Easter weekend it would be nice to get out into the fresh air a little and not be house or home bound.

Our kids are into reptiles and we got lucky and saw a brilliant snake show with Snakebusters reptile shows where they got hold the animals and spent hours with snakes and the like. Saw them in Cape Town last year. They are Australian-based but apparently spend a lot of time in South Africa doing shows, catching snakes and the like. If you get a chance to check them out, my advice is take your kids and don't forget the camera!Applause Applause
