hi

a quick way is to apply clear nail polish over the entire area.
It does not allow the worm to breath and it then dies

I had a similar problem with ring worm, tried one ointment nada, tried another one didn't work either. Then I started mixing the two together and it seemed to do the trick. I think because the fungus adapts to the active ingredients in the ointments, but if you hit it with two different chemicals at once it cant cope and dies. So just go to the pharmacist and ask for an ointment for ringworm, and then buy another ointment with a different active ingredient and mix them.

The other thing thats essential is that your child must not scratch the infected area, easier said then done for a small child with an itch.

[quote=Guest]My daughter got a ringworm Last year November, I took her to the doctor who gave her persivate ointment and antibiotics.Up to date it has not cleared instead it is spreading all over her head now.I was wondering if is there any special ointment I can buy or home remedy I can use. This worries me I even cut her head bald and she is crying saying kids tease her at school. Please help me.[/quote
You should be worried because the treatment you have described to me seems totally incorrect. An antibiotic works on bacteria, not fungus which is what your child apparently suffers from. Even the use of a cortisone in such instances is debatable because of its capacity to in fact spread the disease by virtue of its MOA. You could try Terbinafine cream to sort it out, although I personally prefer Miconazole. Failing that get to a dermatologist who has a few systemic treatment options. again, Terbinafine is popular but pretty costly, even as a generic. Perhaps a weekly dose of Sporazole or daily treatment with Griseofulvin would work too and they are cheaper. Don't stress too much, I am sure a solution is at hand.

Friend of ours came back from Ivory Coast with serious ringworm, was actually sent home by employer as ringworm was so bad. After 2 weeks back in SA he was no better. Then got a sample of an ointment named Axhilirit. He showed remarkable improvement in 2 days and left for Ivory Coast a week later, ringworm totally cleared up. As far as I know only available on website.
