My son is invited to a girl's birthday party for the first time. What is an appropriate (not expensive) gift between friends of preteen age?

I always get a little bag, or a necklace... i love shopping for girls! Honestly!
I live out my girliness when I have to buy prezzies for girls.

Once bought a very cool cap - it all depends on the girl. If shes girly, do the necklace thing, if boyish - caps are always cool.
