A month ago my baby died from Meningitis(group B strep infection). From what I understand he might have gotten it from the birth canal. It is a bacteria that you can have while you are pregnant. My baby was born prematurely(29 weeks) and a test was never done to check if i had this bacteria or not..My baby lived for 2 months and one day he just cried a very loud cry and refused to feed after struggling with him for a few hours we took him to hospital and things got so bad that he died within 2 days.it was pneumonia, then poisoning in the blood then meningitis..what an ordeal .I would like to advise you all pregnant mothers to make sure that you get tested for this B strep infection especially when you are going for natural birth. The problem is that it can hide itself very well.In the 2months that my baby lived there was no sign at all.I would like to conceive again now and I wonder if the bacteria will come back and also is it true that I can conceive easily if I had a baby not long ago(in January 2011).I would like to have another one.

Hi MamaTshia - I am so sorry to hear about your baby's death. I can only imagine how hard that must have been. Good luck with trying for another child, I hope you have success soon.

Hi,

I am really so sorry for your loss. That seems like quite an ordeal but that you so much for being brave enough to share this with us. I think the best place to get answers is to check with your gynae. Let them do tests etc and they will be able to give the best advice on how soon you can conceive again etc. I can only imagine how you are feeling.

I do recommend that you give yourself time to grieve properly though and make sure you are healed both mentally , emotionally and physically before trying to conceive again.

Goodluck xx
