I am based in Welgemoed Cape Town and have joined the ADHD SA Support Group and will be opening a branch in the Welgemoed are. I will be starting off with telephone support and informal coffee meetings. Once that is established I will be organising seminars and conferences which will be held in Cape Town as at the moment everything is done in JHB. If you are interested in joining us please send me an email with details and what time of day would best suit you to have these informal meetings. Will your group be focusing on problems associated with parenting of children with ADHD, or will also it involve people with personaly struggling with ADHD. It is obviously a challenge either way, but I would like to know if this group could be relevant for me. Thanx Andre

Does any have experience with siblings diagnosed with ADHD? Hi Guest I have two boys now aged 17 and 15 - both were diagnosed with ADHD aged 7 and 5 respectively. The neurologist that is seeing them tells me that they most likely have a genetic form of ADHD and will have to use medication for far longer than usual. They are both now on Stratera since the beginning of December. Both have been on Ritalin and Concerta before. Good luck to you - it is not and easy journey but it will definitely never be boring!

Our next meeting is Saturday August 6 at 9h30. Its not a very big group and we’re usually 5 or 6 adults. If you would like to do so you can bring your child/ren, I just ask that you bring something snacky and a drink for them. You may want to consider coming on your own or bringing your significant other, even your parents, as it gets a little tricky to discuss parenting and school issues when the subject of the discussion is “listening in”.
