I have been trying to adopt since 2009 but the waiting lists seems endless.
The fact that I am a single parent (even though I am financially independant)
seems to count against me. I have been vetted by a private social worker but
am no closer today than I was 2 or 3 years ago when I started this process.
I have tried inter country adoptions with no luck either as the department of social
development has not accredited an agency.
I am wanting to adopt a child or baby of white, asian or Indian descent.
Do you have any advice for me?

Caro - how do I get into contact with you? I am looking to an adoptive parent for my unborn baby.

Hi,

Adoption laws in South Africa are outlined by the Child Care Act of 1983, which require social workers and adoption agencies to "give due consideration" to language, religion and culture when matching prospective parents with children.

Paying for a child is a crime in South Africa.

We recommend that you contact your local authority for advice.
