Just thought that maybe we can list some great creches and day mothers! My little girl is with Ouma se skool in Kempton Park with Tannie Corrie and all the kids love her. My LG is learning so much and is really enjoying it there. Any one else want to tell of their experience?

Hey Marilizen, what a great idea. My kids were both very happy at Disa Park Preprimary School in Vredehoek, Cape Town.

My son is 8.5 months old and is at Alberton Montessori and he is very, very happy there. The curriculum is excellent and he's learning all the time. They really do concentrate on the kids and their individual needs and talents but they also instill a sense of responsibility at a young age which makes for a happier child at the end of the day.

Any recommendations for Bloemfontein - my twins 17 months are currently still at home with nannies - however I really want to send them to creche as they do net get enough stimulation - Peadiatrician's advise is to keep them at home until the age of 3 - do you agree or disagree (His concern is that they will be more in hospital than at creche).

In a way I see your doctor's point -- so many kids get ill at creche. As they are twins, at least you don't really have to worry about them getting enough company. Maybe the answer is a once a week playgroup they could attend with a nanny? Hope you find the answer, please come back to the forum and let us know.

Both my boys go to Clever Cats in Durbanville, Cape Town and are extremely happy there. I sent my eldest there from 2yrs old, but they now accept babies from 3 months. My youngest started attending at just over 1yr old, and thrives on the activity & attention. They both go home after lunch time to their much loved nanny (I am a working mom) for naps & quiet time. Although the first year was really tough with illnesses, it has been worth it in the long run. They were bored & destructive at home, where they now have all the equipment, supervision, creative outlets & stimulation at "school" that a nanny isn't always able to provide. I think I have the best of both worlds in my arrangement & would recommend it to anyone who is able to make a half-day arrangement work, either with help from friends, family or a nanny.

My kids also used to come home to the nanny or me in the afternoons, and I agree, it is a good compromise.

My boy is at Chameleon's Montessori on Nitida wine farm in Durbanville Hills (CT) and we absolutely love them. They also have a toddler group in De Bron that takes children from 18 months. Both campuses are half day, until 14h30 or full day. They keep them in the Toddlers group until they are about 3 and relatively well potty trained and then they move them up to the farm to the 3-6 age group. You can also choose to put them in the relatively new primary school, also on Nitida.

I would just like to know when your respective daycares close. My childs daycare closes from 15 December to 18 January. I have a problem with that every year. And then she has the nerve to close some days before and after public holidays during the year aswell.

When i confronted her, she asked if there isnt a granny or nanny that could look after my child. Hmmm hallo, he is at the daycare because i dont have alternative sitters or caregivers i can rely on.

Am i the only one with this problem, or does all the daycares do this.

For the poster looking for a creche in the SS of Cape Town..not sure about your child's age, but once they turn 2, you should apply at Pipsqueaks in Firth Road, Rondebosch - absolutely stunning place. My son was there last year and we were 100% happy.

I also have probelsm with closure dates or as we are told Holiday care, which is an additional cost throughtout the year including some days in November as well as December.

There is also the closure during the soccer - this a a whole month. What do you do with your child?

I am having the same problem, she charges me R2000 per child, I have 2, and she charges another R350 per activity, playball, monkeynastics, swimming and ballet, she then closes for a month in december and a week in July and everytime there is a long weekend she closes early and if there is a holiday falls on a teusday she closes on the monday to, this is crazy.
Where does your child attend?
Kindest Regards
Stephanie
