Hi Everyone....!

Perhaps you can give me some advice? My 19 year old, after a disagreement with me, decided to move in with her boyfriend at his parents house !! His parents are quite willing to put her up, at a cost of R1000 per month, and she earns a pittance !!

I am totally distraught that these parents would encourage this and not try to encourage her to come back home. Her and her boyfriend have been dating for approx 2 years now, she's my only child and I am beside myself with worry and concern....

Does anyone have any advice on how to hand this matter???

Very Heartbroken Parent

Hey, jo49 nice answer there - why don't you go back to your YOU magazines and leave the grownups to talk?

Actually, Mrs YOU magazine (jo49), I DID answer her question - but the censors on this board didn't publish the post.

Herewith (in a nutshell): Contact your daughter and meet with her in a neutral environment, where you can discuss your problems. Also, don't be too harsh with regards to the boy's parents - if they don't allow her to stay, perhaps she will end up on the street. And that's a far worse option. As with everything, the answer lies in discussion, and in dialogue - keep your ears open and your mouth shut, and you'll be surprised what you hear when you're REALLY listening.

As for you, jo49 - ever hear of spell-check? The word you were apparently looking for is 'technically'...

If you can't say something helpful, why don't you just zip it? Everybody KNOWS that 'technically at 18 a child is considered to be an adult' - but that wasn't what the poster was asking about, was it now?

Makes me wonder what you did say for them to not publish it, being your nasty little self i bet it was a lot worse than that, possibly blaming her etc. like in your usual posts against woman. Yes i have heard of spell check but i dont log on here on firefox, possibly like yourself since your spelling is super! Doesnt make you smart just makes you an idiot for relying on technology to look superior. And so what if i make a spelling mistake this is a forum not work.

Also the advice you give this lady is common sence. You need an award for that don't you?

Actually, lady (IF you're one - we'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now, though - it being customary to display such small courtesies to women, no matter HOW unpleasantly they behave), I have never used spell check in my life - I just happen to be properly and functionally literate. And if you haven't picked up on it (obviously not!), here's a newsflash - I'm not the only "guest" on this forum who doesn't like your attitude or your mindset. Interestingly, the other guest/s is/are ALSO able to spell properly - which is probably what threw you. It IS, after all, an increasingly rare skill nowadays. In YOUR circle, apparently...

Probably the censors didn't like that I suggested you get a spell-checker. I believe, now you mention it, that you only need to press "F7" to access that particular utility while composing a message or posting - and it should then quite easily point out that, just for an example, "I" as used in your reply above is normally capitalised.

Have a LOVELY little day, in spite of yourself.

I know its you because your posts just scream out arrogance =p. Like i said its a forum, not rocket science people can spell & structure how ever they want. I can see you got nothing to do in your life than criticize others spelling. How about this: change your attitude, be more open minded, stop thinking your gods gift to people and JUST maybe you will get a life and actualy venture some where other than your computer......... Hope you have a FANTASTIC day too.

Well, it seems that 'Guest' actually did make an attempt (the ONLY attempt) to answer the question posed, not so?
